Student Art Society Return

Former photography students from the College of North West London who have started a local arts society called La societe de la petite voix, are launching another free exhibition called ‘Senses’ this September at The Alliance Pub in West Hampstead.

There are ten artists involved all from different nationalities with a number of different philosophies and approaches to art who  will be displaying and trying to sell their work on September 16.

The group who put on another successful exhibition earlier in the year at Willesden library, initially formed mainly for artistic solidarity but also to try as one group to fight against Government cuts to arts funding through raising money through their work.

Their statement of intent has always been that by collaborating together they hope to make photography and art ‘inclusive’, not ‘exclusive’, and to give the Brent community access and insight into original local art.

David Carter, 59 from Kingsbury, said: “We have all missed studying at the College and being able to learn and develop together. Nonetheless, the group we have formed as a result of meeting through study is fantastic.

“We are all very different, all of different ages, and have a great variety in what we like and what we produce, but we all have a love for art and photography that brings it all together.

“It should be an excellent exhibition, with the incentive for local people to come down and support local art.”

The exhibition runs from September 10th to October 10th, with a private view on the 16th September where there will be music from Sparking Toys and Colourblind Williams.
